1 cup quick-cooking oats
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter

Cool before cutting into bars.

Fig Filling

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cloves

In a small bowl, mash figs with fork; combine with fig syrup from can and set aside. In a medium saucepan mix sugar, cornstarch and spices. Pour mashed figs and fig syrup over the sugar mixture and stir until blended together. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
