1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup granulated sugar

Gradually beat sugar into the egg until light.

Sift together the following:

2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, alternately add:

1/3 cup milk

Then add:

3 tablespoons butter (melted) and 1 teaspoon vanilla
    or almond extract.

Beat well.

Fold in:

1 1/2 cups berries

Pour into an 8-inch cake pan and bake at 400 degrees F for about 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
